Young’s Rule (For children under 12 years of age)
Young’s Rule is a formula for calculating paediatric medication dosage based on the patient’s age and the known adult dose. Young’s Rule is defined as the patient’s age divided by the age added to twelve, multiplied by the recommended adult dose. This formula is as follows:
Child Dose= [Age / (Age + 12)] x Recommended Adult DoseNote: Consult physician before administering any drug to childrens.
